Final Images

These are the images I will print out as the final photographs for the module hand in on Friday 16th January.

Objects out of Contexts (Studio Shoot) - 14/1/15

By putting the two objects together from the 2 different locations we can see that there isn't much difference from what you can get. In my opinion at first glance you would think that these objects came from the same urban location.

The marks on the bottle are fascinating to me, I cleaned it by hand then put it in the dishwasher and this is what stayed on it; it's like it has kept history because I assume it's been there for maybe 30 years or more.

The Barn - 9/1/15

It's interesting to see the contrast between streets, the location that I chose has rows of houses on each side of the street, each house in this location are a good few hundred metres from each other.

I found this bottle exactly where it's put in the barn. It's a very old (possible from the 50s) pepsi bottle. I cleaned it and have brought it back with me to take an out of context shoot of it in the studio that I have booked for Wednesday 14th Jan, I'll also take the glasses from the previous location to the studio shoot and get better photographs of it.

The Barn - 30/12/14

Looking at what nature has to offer is inspiring but I'm also interested at what happens when nature meets man made objects, like the barn and like the gate and barbed wire. The top image shows nature taking over what man has made and I find this transition incredibly beautiful; although we're taking the barn back in a hundred years or so tress could be creeping their way through the walls of the structure we have made. It's a cycle.

The Barn (first visit) - 20/12/14

I feel like this image almost pays homage to Jem Southam's (below) image of a small bump in the landscape, I wanted to take inspiration from the artists we have looked at together as a group over the past few weeks. I like this photograph a lot; the rubbish heap is in the centre of the frame and blocks the idyllic landscape behind it, creating an obstruction you'd only be used to seeing in urban landscapes; maybe this location and Shrewsbury Street aren't so different after all.
 Skytip, Trelavour Downs, 2010

Looking at the ground in various locations can lead to some unique studies, the ground at the barn creates an original pattern.

I find the textures of things around me really interesting, and this close up of wood is similar to the one I took at my original location (below) confirming again that there possibly isn't much of a difference.

Where to go...

As the location I chose was a street full of houses and people's homes I felt it naturally lead to look at my own house, and where I consider 'home'. Now that my childhood home has been sold, I want to look at my parents next project; and it's completely opposite to my location which I think will be interesting to see the contrast between the two locations.

Below are screenshots from google maps of my childhood home in Caerwys, a fairly decent middle ground between the two contrasting locations. It's in a built up area, but is rural rather than urban. The screenshots below that are of where the opposite location is.

I can't get any closer with street view to the barn than this, which shows how isolated it is.
